Christmas Party Make-up Tips - SO Magazine 'Party Girl'

As we gear up for party season, first and foremost we must talk about our skincare regime. Throughout the winter months, our skin needs extra care and attention as we fleet between our cosy warm homes and out into the cold fresh air. It is worthwhile investing in good skincare for extra winter protection, incorporate a serum, face oil and moisturiser into your routine to ensure all layers of skin are nourished. My winter hero product: O-Way’s Glowing Face Gommage, a micro-exfoliant which brightens and smooths dull winter skin (available in store at Taw).

Followed by a night-time skin treat with Decleors’ Green Mandarine Aromessance Glow Serum, an oil serum for glowing skin. Best of both worlds! For that extra feel-good factor try a little home pampering, using an all-body elixir keeping skin hydrated and glowing. My latest obsession - a nourishing dry oil that absorbs easily - O-Ways Fabulous Body Oil Elixir (available in store at Taw).

Spice up your make-up palette for Christmas with pops of colour, reds, berry tones or stains, my go to party make-up is a strong red matte lip. For a longer lasting lippy, line and fill in the lip with the complimenting lip pencil. This creates a strong base for lipstick to adhere to, you can guarantee your lippy will stay put  whilst sipping your mulled wine.

My seasons go to’s are: ROUGE ALLURE N°5 RRP £35 147 EMBLÉMATIQUE A powerful and luminous red and compliment with a well manicured, glossy red nail in LE VERNIS RRP £24
ROUGE INTEMPOREL - A powerful and luminous red.

Now onto a smoky eye - line around the eyes with black Kohl, include both bottom and top waterlines for extra depth and definition. My go to eye pencil is Smoulder by MAC Cosmetics which glides on easily, blend up and outwards with the warmth of your fingers for a more lived in look. Don’t forget to curl those lashes and complete with your favourite mascara.

And remember there is ALWAYS room for glitter at Christmas. For a simple transition from day to party make-up, apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the eyelid and press on loose pigment glitter for that extra special event.

Complete the look by brushing brows up and outwards and warm up those cheeks. Pro tip – spray a little hairspray on a clean mascara wand to set the fuller brow.
