Style Noir Magazine

This shoot is from the May – Utopia Issue of Style Noir Magazine. Shot by the talented Thomas Sing, styling by Mariana Abella, hair by Sam Burnett and of course make-up by me. Shot in a gravel pit in London’s East End we really had our work cut out with the cold winds, rain and dust storms. Future Divinity is the story of two twins, one soft and vulnerable and the other strong and extroverted. Make-up needed to compliment the story and the characters involved.

To prepare the girls skin and to maintain hydration throughout the day I began with a facial massage using MAC’s Care Blends Essential Oils in Grapefruit & Chamomile, lifting off any excess oil with a tissue before massaging in Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Face Cream followed by Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream patted under the eye to de-puff and hydrate dark circles. Next step is a thick, conditioning layer of Eve Lom’s Kiss Mix to re-hydrate lips. For a flawless and dewy base I used MAC Face and Body Foundation, buffed into the skin with a MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush. I love this foundation because it gives a youthful glow to the skin and can be layered up without looking to make-up heavy. You can always go in with a BB Cream here instead of a foundation – for the best of the BB’s keep an eye out for my next post coming soon. Make-up was set with a light dusting of MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Pressed Powder around the nose and under eye areas. If you have especially oily skin then you can layer up in the T-Zone but ensure you go lightly as too much powder can age the look and feel of skin. To create a tougher look on the stronger character of the two I added a contour using the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate and created a smokey eye using a contrast of three MAC Eyeshadows in: Yogurt, Shadowy Lady and Dazzlelight. Using the darker shadows to create depth along the eyeline and outer corner of the eye, and the lighter colours as a highlight blending towards the inner corners of the eye. Ensuring to press shadow close into the lash line for a flawless finish. Finish with lashings of black mascara on a perfectly curled lash and comb through and define brows using Kevin Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil. Finish the look with a perfect lip outlined with MAC Lip Pencil in Brick and fill in using MAC’s Chilli Lipstick
