Top tips for your Wedding Day make-up - SO Magazine 'Wedding Belle'

Skin preparation is key, a good base will ensure the staying power of the makeup. Ideally have a facial or two in the weeks leading up to the big day. Ensure the skin is clean, exfoliated and well moisturised. Try to avoid heavy moisturisers for summer weddings and keep skincare products minimal. Not forgetting a touch of eye cream and a lip conditioner whilst prepping the skin.

Less is more! Go for lightweight foundations that you can layer up in any problem areas, blend with fingers when using liquid or creams so the product really moulds to the skin by using the warmth of the fingers. Blend blend blend!  Natalie’s hero product: Mac Face and Body Foundation. Can be used on face and all over the body, easily layered up. Top tip – heat the product on the back of your hand for 1-2 minutes to thicken and blend in with your concealer to make the perfect colour match.

Define the eyes using a colour palette you feel suited to. Cream shadows are great for longwear as they avoid creasing and blend easily. Blend a little of the eye shadow colour just below the waterline to balance and open the eye up. Finish with a beautifully curled lash and mascara. Try a waterproof mascara or just applying to the top lashes in case of any happy tears.

Warm up the cheeks with a cream blush, apply to the apples of the cheeks and blend up and outwards. Top tip – smile when applying find the right spot that sits well with your face.

Find your favourite lipstick for the day and buy the matching lip pencil. Top tip – cover the entire lip in lip pencil before applying the lipstick to increase staying power throughout the day.
